Authorities are looking for a convicted felon who absconded from Hope House.

According to a news release from the Iowa Department of Corrections, Markez Fox failed to return to the Coralville residential facility as required on Wednesday.

Fox is a 24-year-old Black male, 5′ 10″ in height and weighing 190 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on September 15th.

The DOC says anyone with information on Fox’s whereabouts should contact local police.

Fox was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2019 after pleading guilty to charges of 1st Degree Theft, Conspiracy to Commit a Forcible Felony and Assault While Participating in a Felony. He and two other men went to a residence in the 500 block of 7th Avenue in Coralville in December of 2017 for what was described by police as “an arranged transaction” that went awry and led to one of the other men shooting the victim in the arm and chest.
