An alleged fight at the Iowa Lodge Tuesday night led to the arrest of an Iowa City man.

Police were called to the complex just before 11pm on reports of a physical fight near one of the apartments. One of the men tried to flee into one of the residences, but was followed by the other man involved in the altercation, identified as 26-year-old Sheldon Sidney of Westwinds Drive.

The man locked the apartment door to keep Sidney from entering, but he allegedly tried to get in by breaking an exterior window. He refused to comply with uniformed officers’ commands to stop, and reportedly smelled strongly of ingested alcohol.

The cost to replace the window was estimated to be around $400.

Sidney was taken into custody and charged with Public Intoxication, Interference with Official Acts, Disorderly Conduct, and 4th degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to 15 months in prison.
