A Coralville woman allegedly admitted to officers that she “did a bad thing” when being interviewed about a traffic accident, and was charged with OWI.

Officers were called to the Kum & Go on the Coralville strip at approximately 12:45 am Sunday on reports of an accident. Upon arrival, the reporting party handed officers the keys to the suspect’s vehicle, saying that they took the keys so the woman wouldn’t drive off.

The Chevy Malibu was being operated by 21-year-old Breck Goodman of 4th Avenue. It had a flat front driver’s side tire, the wheel-wall panel falling off the passenger side, and antifreeze leaking from the vehicle. Airbags had also been deployed.

Goodman allegedly said she hit another vehicle but didn’t know where it was, and stated, “I did a bad thing.” When asked what that bad thing was, she reportedly admitted to driving while intoxicated.

Goodman had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. There were also reportedly several mini-bottles of vodka on the passenger floorboard.

Chemical testing showed Goodman’s blood-alcohol level at .270 percent, over three times the legal limit to drive.  She was charged with her first OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
