A suspect in an Iowa City shooting incident last month is back behind bars on stolen weapons charges.

21-year-old Danielle Williams of 14th Avenue in Coralville was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 3:30 Saturday morning. Williams was originally arrested in Oxford on August 10th after a shooting four days earlier in Iowa City. Officers responded to the 2400 block of Bittersweet Court just before 5pm on August 6th for a shots fired incident. Officers located the victim, who reported Williams pulled out a handgun during an argument and fired a round over her head. A shell casing and property damage from the bullet were located at the scene, and the next day the victim reported finding a bullet in her room.

Williams allegedly had a bag of marijuana in her possession when she was taken into custody. She was initially charged with two counts of Dominion or Control of an Offensive Weapon by a Domestic Abuser and one count each of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure or Provoke Fear and Marijuana Possession.

Police initially failed to recover the gun allegedly used in the incident. They now say the gun was found during an unrelated police search of an apartment on the Coralville Strip on August 20th. The suspect named in the search warrant told investigators that Williams had given him the Ruger 9mm handgun after the shooting. Shell casings recovered at Bittersweet Court matched those used in test firing of the recovered weapon.

Williams now faces an additional charge of Trafficking in Stolen Weapons Used in a Crime, a Class C felony punishable by a maximum of ten years in prison.
