A Coralville man accused of helping murder suspects escape capture has waived his right to a speedy trial.
Online court records show lawyers for 23-year-old Jordan Hogan of Cross Park Avenue filed the request on Wednesday. Hogan is accused of lying to detectives during the investigation into the murder of Kejuan Winters of Iowa City.
Iowa City Police believe Reginald Little of Cross Park Avenue was the gunman who shot Winters in his Broadway Street apartment on April 20th, 2020. He, Durojaiye Rosa of Broadway Street and Patrick Bland of Rockord Illinois are all charged with first degree murder, punishable by life in prison if convicted. Rosa allegedly told investigators that the men entered Winters’ apartment only intending to rob him, not shoot him. Winters died at the scene.
Hogan is accused of lying to investigators to help the suspects escape. He faces a charge of Obstructing Prosecution or Defense and could be sentenced to two years in prison if convicted. His next case management conference is scheduled for the morning of November 1st.
