Mercy Iowa City announced Wednesday that they are requiring all colleagues, medical staff, contractors, students, volunteers, and anyone conducting business in their facilities to be vaccinated no later than December 20th.
A release from the medical group says the mandate includes the hospital and Mercy clinics.
Mercy Iowa City has been encouraging vaccines for their colleagues since they became available, and are following President Biden’s executive order requiring all health care facilities receiving Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement to require its medical staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Mercy Iowa City will require its colleagues to submit proof of vaccination by December 20th. Those who aren’t able to be vaccinated for their religious beliefs or medical reasons must apply for an exemption.
