Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a Thursday afternoon double stabbing.

According to a CRPD news release, just before 5pm Thursday officers were called to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital for two victims who had sustained stab wounds. Both victims arrived at the hospital emergency department by private vehicle.

A 21-year old male sustained life-threatening injuries to the abdomen, and a 17-year old male sustained life-threatening injuries to the chest.  Both victims remain hospitalized.

Approximately ten minutes prior to officers being called to the hospital, officers were dispatched to a fight in the 2900 block of Breyer Street SW.  When officers arrived on the scene, there was no fight in progress.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the stabbing victims and the call for service on Breyer Street SW are connected.

Investigators have conducted several interviews. At this time, it appears the physical altercation involved individuals known to one another.
