An Illinois man was taken into custody after a traffic stop for speeding found him allegedly in possession of marijuana and a fictitious license.

Iowa City police stopped 19-year-old Michael Horstman of Springfield just before midnight Monday after he was observed going 45 miles an hour near the intersection of Burlington and Madison Streets, 15 miles over the posted speed limit. The inside of the vehicle allegedly had the odor of marijuana, and a probable cause search turned up a small quantity of the drug, along with glass pipes with burnt residue, grinders and rolling papers.

Horstman also had on his person a fictitious Missouri driver’s license with his picture and name on it, but a false date of birth.

He’s been charged with marijuana possession, possession of the fake license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail if convicted on all three counts.
