An Iowa City woman who once stomped a man’s head into concrete now faces charges that she broke a beer bottle over another person’s head.

46-year-old Christie Hartison of Shamrock Place was booked into the Johnson County jail just after 5pm Saturday. Hartison was wanted for an August 3rd incident at the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street. Police say that just after 10:30pm she grabbed another person from behind by the hair and struck the victim in the head with a glass bottle.

Hartison is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.

Hartison faced the same charge last year after a July 2020 assault at Town & Campus. Police say Hartison, then known as Christie Hartison-Brown, stomped a man’s head into the concrete, causing a large contusion. She pleaded the charge down to Disorderly Conduct in a deal with prosecutors and was fined $105. Court records show Hartison was allowed to serve community service in lieu of payment.
