An Iowa City man wanted for failure to appear on harassment charges was taken into custody Wednesday night after an alleged domestic assault.

According to arrest reports, 32-year-old Terry Pearson was at his Muscatine Avenue residence with the victim. They became engaged in an altercation that reportedly became physical. The man reports that Pearson physically threw him out the door of the residence, resulting in a scraped, injured and bleeding knee. He also reportedly had a large contusion with substantial swelling on his left wrist.

Pearson and the man are related by blood and have been cohabitating for about three years.

Pearson was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail if convicted.

Pearson was wanted for failure to appear at Johnson County Court Tuesday on two charges of 2nd degree Harassment from earlier this year. In that instance, he allegedly approached two individuals in their parking lot on Scott Court as they parked their car around 1am on May 30th. According to the victims, Pearson told them he was going to hit them in their heads with a golf club as he tapped it on the ground.

One victim asked Pearson what he said to clarify what she heard, and he allegedly replied, “Yup, one for you and one for you” while continuing to tap the club on the ground. Both victims left the area out of fear for their safety.

With the domestic charge, Pearson now faces up to three years in prison if convicted on all counts.
