A North Liberty man was taken into custody Monday morning after allegedly threatening a courthouse staffer.

Police say 25-year-old DeShawn Hudson of Sugar Creek Lane was at the Johnson County Courthouse at approximately 8:30 am for an initial appearance on charges of Careless Driving and Interference with Official Acts stemming from an August 4th incident. While there, he got into a verbal argument with staff. He allegedly directed a threat to a staffer, saying “Shut up before I knock those glasses off your face.”

The arrest report indicates that Hudson did not want to stop when directed by Courthouse Deputies initially.

He was charged with Simple Assault and could be sentenced to up to 30 days in jail if convicted. A non-jury trial on the initial charges was set for October 20th.
