Former Shelter House resident arrested for breaking into empty Pizza Hut

A former Shelter House resident has been taken into custody after police found him inside the vacant Pizza Hut on Keokuk Avenue Monday.

According to the arrest report, 39-year-old Stephen Plante broke a window and entered the establishment, which is currently not in use. Upon contact, he allegedly told officers that he went into the building because he was not allowed to stay at Shelter House. He was found sleeping inside the building.

Plante provided a false name and false social security number when asked his identity.

He was taken into custody and charged with Trespass causing Injury and Providing False Identification Information. If convicted, Plante could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
