An Iowa City man stopped on a search warrant Sunday evening has been taken into custody and faces multiple drug and weapons charges.

Officers stopped 22-year-old Tramon Colandro Robinson of Cross Park Avenue just before 7:45pm on the 500 block of East Burlington Street. Police had search warrants for the vehicle Robinson was driving, as well as for Robinson himself.  The search reportedly turned up a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun under the driver’s seat that Robinson allegedly stated was his. A backpack, also acknowledged by Robinson as his, had 105 grams of marijuana, packaged in 22 individual bags.

Robinson reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana before driving, and a urine test allegedly showed a positive test for THC. Robinson was observed with bloodshot watery eyes and impaired speech.

He was charged Sunday with first offense OWI, Person ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon, Possession of dangerous weapon while intoxicated, and a controlled substance violation.

Last month on the afternoon of the 17th, Robinson was stopped on a traffic violation on Highway 1 West.  He allegedly admitted to possessing marijuana, and he was found with 105 grams of the drug packaged in 22 individual bags. He was charged with a controlled substance violation and failure to affix a drug stamp.

The warrants Robinson was stopped for Sunday stems from an alleged fraudulent purchase of a firearm and to get a urine sample to test for drug use. Police say he bought a weapon at Fin and Feather on June 11th and lied on his application form, saying that he was not an unlawful user of marijuana or any controlled substance. He had since reportedly admitted to drug use and has had several contacts with law enforcement where he was warned for his marijuana use.

For all three incidents, Robinson faces a maximum 23 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
