Cedar Rapids police have made an arrest for an alleged hit-and-run driver who sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to a release from the Department, the incident occurred this past Sunday night around 8:30. Officers were dispatched to the area of Blairs Ferry Road and C Avenue Northeast to investigate an accident involving a passenger car and a motorcycle. Upon arrival, they found 29-year-old  Adam Meader, the motorcyclist and lone rider, on the ground being assisted by citizens who stopped after the collision. Meader was transported to UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital with a serious head injury which included a fractured jaw. Witnesses say a Ford Focus left the scene.

Officers located the Ford Focus in Hiawatha.  As the result of the investigation, 34 year old Reginald  Busch, of Marion, was arrested for Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Injury, Driving While Barred, Failure to Yield Upon Left Turn, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.  He was also served for a warrant on separate charges of Eluding and Operating While Intoxicated.

The investigation determined the hit-and-run accident was the result of Busch not yielding for a left turn.  Busch also did not have a valid driver’s license.
