Reported fight at IC fast food drive-thru leads to 1 arrest

A reported fight at an Iowa City drive-thru window had led to one arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to a fight in progress at the Lower Muscatine Road McDonald’s drive-thru at 9:20 Thursday night. Officers later located one of the suspects, 35-year-old Thomas Cofield, driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla near the corner of Gilbert Street and Highway 6. He was pulled over on the 800 block of South Riverside Drive and arrested for Driving While Barred.

Cofield was taken to Iowa City Police headquarters on East Washington Street for impaired driver testing. He allegedly showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and provided a blood alcohol content of .124%.

Cofield, who listed his address as both the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street and the Iowa Lodge on the Coralville Strip, was additionally charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
