A former Linn Mar employee is being investigated after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

KCRG TV reports that officials applied for a search warrant for the belongings of 21-year-old Ruben Power. The warrant, requested last month, indicates that their investigation began in May and law enforcement is looking at Power’s electronic devices to continue their work.

Court filings indicate that the teen’s parents saw the two together in Power’s vehicle at an ice cream shop in Marion in April. There was also reportedly an incident when the teen was reported missing after running away from a youth shelter in late April. It was reported that the teen ran to a man pretending to be the teen’s cousin. They believe that man was Power, and he attempted to pick up her belongings.

Authorities say the two were communicating and arranging meeting times and locations using Instagram.

The TV station talked to the Linn Mar Community School District, who said Power was terminated as a custodian after becoming aware of criminal charges against him.
