North Liberty Police have arrested a man they say was found with several pounds of marijuana and multiple illegally-obtained guns inside a residence he shares with two young children.

27-year-old Cameron Bounds was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 11am Saturday.

According to arrest records, a warrant was served at Bounds’ Alexander Way apartment around 9am on June 2nd. Several pounds of marijuana were found in boxes in Bounds’ bedroom, where police say they were easily accessible to Bounds’ two- and four-year-old children. Marijuana and marijuana edibles were found on a desk, and packaging materials were found at the scene. Police also confiscated a Glock 43 handgun, a CZ Scorpion handgun, a Ruger LCP II semi-automatic pistol and a Walther/H&K MP5 rifle.

An investigation determined that Bounds had purchased the weapons from Scheels in Coralville between July of 2018 and last May. Bounds allegedly marked that he was not an unlawful drug user when he filled out the ATF paperwork for the guns, but police say he later admitted to smoking “a lot” of marijuana consistently since high school.

Bounds is charged with a Controlled Substance Violation, Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, Child Endangerment and four counts of Fraudulent Purchase of a Firearm. If convicted on all charges, Bounds faces a maximum of 32 years in prison.
