Three arrested in CR after gunfire exchange

Three people have been arrested after allegedly exchanging gunfire in Cedar Rapids.

According to Cedar Rapids Police, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Bever Avenue SE at 1:44 Saturday afternoon for a report of a disturbance involving a firearm.

Police arrived on the scene to find three victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. 27-year old Darius Howard-Brandon, 36-year old Jeremy Hepker, and a 25-year old woman sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Hepker and the unidentified woman were transported by ambulance to UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital. Both were treated and later released. Howard-Brandon sustained a graze wound and would later be evaluated at the hospital.

45-year-old Lamar Brandon was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Going Armed with Intent, and Intimidation with a Weapon. Howard-Brandon was arrested for Going Armed with Intent. Hepker was arrested for Going Armed with Intent and Intimidation with a Weapon.

Police say the shooting incident involves victims and suspects related to each other or in a former relationship.
