Iowa City Police have made an arrest in an armed robbery case from late last year.

20-year-old Dentrell Miles of Taylor Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 9pm Friday. Police say Miles met with his victim to conduct a drug transaction in the parking lot of La Rumba at the Iowa City Marketplace just after 9pm on December 3rd. Miles’ accomplice allegedly struck the man in the head with a pistol before Miles allegedly punched the man while he was on the ground. The two then allegedly took $150 in cash. The victim was treated for a head injury at a local hospital.

The victim told investigators he knew Miles through his Snapchat account. Police say Miles later admitted to using the Snapchat handle the victim provided. Data from the app allegedly places Miles at the scene of the crime, as well as near his residence prior to the robbery.

Miles is charged with 1st Degree Robbery, a Class B Felony punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison.
