An Iowa City man who allegedly stole thousands of dollars in items from a residence over a year ago has been arrested.

Arrest reports indicate that 19-year-old Luke Beckner of Wylde Green Road broke into a residence on Woodland Heights Northeast on St. Patrick’s Day 2020. Beckner and others on scene forced entry and stole nearly $14,000 worth of game consoles, gaming accessories, computers, computer equipment, jewelry, cash, a TV, and a soundbar. Some of the items were used personally by Beckner, while others were sold or traded for financial gain.

Once Beckner was identified as a suspect, a warrant was issued for his arrest on July 23rd. He was taken into custody at around 6pm Monday and charged with 1st degree Theft and 3rd degree Burglary. If convicted on both counts, Beckner could be sentenced to up to fifteen years in prison.
