Iowa City Police investigating two weekend shooting incidents

Iowa City Police are investigating two shots fired incidents, occurring Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

At approximately 9:17 pm Saturday, officers were called to the 2600 block of Muscatine Avenue on multiple reports of shots fired. Investigators on scene reportedly discovered that there had been a fight involving several people in the area and at least two individuals fired guns. An adult male got hit in the leg, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers arrested 23-year-old Ka’Leck Bolden of Iowa City in connection with the incident. He’s been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a Class D Felony punishable by a maximum prison term of five years if convicted.  The Muscatine Avenue incident remains under investigation.

Police then received reports of shots fired in the area of the Ped Mall in downtown Iowa City at approximately 1:10 am Sunday. Arriving officers determined that a fight involving several people occurred in the alley by the Fieldhouse bar. One person reportedly fired several shots from a handgun into the crowd. A 24-year old woman and a 17 year-old boy were struck and are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.
