Police have arrested an Iowa City man wanted for a pair of robberies.
20-year-old Quentin Hitchcock of Taylor Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail earlier this week. According to arrest records, 28-year-old Dwayne Eskridge of Kirkwood Avenue reported being robbed by Hitchcock just before 7:45 the night of February 2nd at The Quarters apartments on Highway 6 East. Eskridge told investigators he was trying to buy a gram of marijuana when Hitchcock stole $2,000 from him. Hitchcock had allegedly threatened Eskridge with a firearm. Eskridge immediately notified police and gave them Hitchcock’s cellphone number. Data from the phone placed Hitchcock at the scene of the robbery, and information on its apps reportedly shows Hitchcock in possession of firearms and controlled substances, as well as placing him at The Quarters on multiple occasions.
Just after 5:15pm on June 21st Hitchcock and another person allegedly knocked a second victim to the ground near the corner of Taylor and Sandusky Drives, assaulted him and took $350 cash and an iPhone. Police say Hitchcock knew the victim, but only admitted to fighting with the man. He also denied having an accomplice.
Hitchcock faces two counts of 2nd Degree Robbery. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 50 years in prison.
Eskridge pleaded guilty to an Interference with Official Acts charge for the February incident after he threatened to find Hitchcock himself and refused to leave the scene of the investigation. He was sentenced to one day in jail.
