Coralville city councilor Meghann Foster has announced plans to run for Coralville mayor.

Foster was elected to the council in 2017. She also serves on the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County (MPO) and the Johnson County Juvenile Justice and Youth Development Policy Board. She was also part of the East Central Iowa Council of Governments in 2020 in addition to serving on other planning committees for the city.
Foster is running to replace outgoing mayor John Lundell, who announced earlier this week that he would not seek another term.

Earlier this year Foster ran unsuccessfully for a vacant seat on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. If elected in November, Foster would be the first woman mayor in Coralville’s history.
