Coralville Mayor John Lundell announced today that he will not seek reelection when his term ends at the end of the year.

Saying that it’s time for him to step back from a leadership role, the 65-year-old Lundell will have served 8 years as mayor after a ten-year stint on the Coralville City Council.

In a news release, Lundell said some of his proudest achievements as mayor are the development of the Iowa River Landing, the $60 million investment in flood protection, and the things that make Coralville a community citizens are proud to call home.

Among Lundell’s other community service are 20 years as a member of the Coralville Library Board of Trustees and his time as a member of the city’s volunteer Fire Department.

His wife Diana served on the City Council for 15 years.
