Hawkeye baseball alum Trenton Wallace has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.

MLB Pipeline reports the reigning Big Ten Pitcher of the Year signed for $172,500. Wallace was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 11th round of this year’s MLB draft. The Rock Island native went 7-1 last season with a 2.34 ERA with 106 strikeouts.

Wallace joins former Iowa pitcher Nick Allgeyer in the Blue Jays organization. Allgeyer pitched a scoreless inning in a July 2nd win over Tampa Bay in his only major league appearance so far.
