Woman whose husband is accused of trying to kill her arrested for shooting a man while intoxicated

A Cedar Rapids woman was taken into custody after allegedly shooting a man while intoxicated.

The Gazette reports that police were dispatched to the 1600 block of F Avenue Northwest Saturday just before 4 am on information that a man had been shot.

Upon arrival, a man was found with a gunshot wound just above his hip. First responders treated the man before he was taken to a hospital. The injury was reported to be non-life threatening.

Diana Depolis was charged with reckless use of a firearm causing bodily injury, and carrying a dangerous weapon while intoxicated. If convicted on both counts, she faces up to six years in prison.

Her husband, Anthony Depolis, faces attempted murder, willful injury, and domestic abuse using a dangerous weapon charges for allegedly stabbing Diana in the neck last July. According to the criminal complaint, Anthony Depolis purchased a knife with the intention to kill his wife.

His trial is scheduled to begin November 2nd after a court hearing on August 18th.
