A Tiffin man who allegedly was driving in Coralville without license plates faces a host of charges after a traffic stop.

The incident occurred just before 1am Monday in the 400 block of the Coralville Strip. 44-year-old David Robinson of Potter Street was reportedly operating a 2006 Mazda without front or rear plates. Upon contact, he allegedly had the odor of ingested alcohol, bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech.

Robinson reportedly refused to provide proof of registration or insurance. He also refused to provide a PBT or Datamaster test. A check of his driving record using his name and date of birth showed no valid license. His status was shown as revoked for failure to provide OWI test, and barred as an habitual offender.

Robinson is also required to have an interlock device, having a prior OWI conviction. He did not have the device installed on the vehicle.

Robinson has been charged with second offense OWI, Driving while Denied or Revoked, Driving While Barred, and Operating without Interlock. If convicted on all counts, he faces a sentence of over five years in prison.
