The subject of a no-contact order, who allegedly asked the protected party if he could talk to her without getting arrested, got arrested Monday.

The alleged incident happened just after 5:15pm on April 28th. Iowa City Police say 21-year-old Jaquon Hemphill of 9th Street in Coralville walked into Fast Break on Naples Avenue, where the protected party works, and asked her if he could talk to her without getting arrested. Police say the victim tried to ignore Hemphill, but he kept trying to engage her in conversation.

Another Fast Break employee told Hemphill the woman wasn’t going to talk to him, and that he needed to leave. He eventually did.

Hemphill was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:45 Monday morning and charged with a No-Contact Order Violation. He was also wanted for failing to appear last May at his trial on charges of Assault and 3rd Degree Harassment. That trial was reset on Monday to September 21st.

Hemphill was released from the Johnson County Jail just before noon Monday.
