A police chase through Coralville had led to the arrest of a domestic abuse suspect.

Coralville Police attempted a traffic stop on a 2012 Jeep with Illinois plates just before 3:45 Friday afternoon on the 900 block of Boston Way. The driver allegedly ignored the officer’s lights and siren and continued driving, passing other vehicles in what police describe as an unsafe manner.

The driver, later identified as 25-year-old Lamont Gordon, was able to escape. But police later located Gordon in the 2000 block of 10th Street Court. He was captured after a brief foot chase.

Gordon, who has an Illinois driver’s license but lists his address as Coralville, was wanted for a domestic abuse incident earlier this month. Coralville Police say that just before 9am on July 1st Gordon ripped a necklace off the victim while the two were at his Boston Way apartment, causing an injury to her neck.

Gordon is charged with Eluding, Interference With Official Acts, and Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
