Probation has been revoked for an Iowa City armed robbery suspect, just days after he was given a suspended sentence.

26-year-old Jacob Lester of Benton Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 3:45 Wednesday afternoon. Online records show Lester allegedly violated terms of his probation by being charged with OWI, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interference with Official Acts and Driving While Suspended on July 3rd. He was also charged with Domestic Abuse Assault three days later.

Lester was charged with 1st Degree Robbery last April after an incident in August of 2020. Iowa City Police say he visited a South Gilbert Street apartment and tried to take a container full of cash, claiming one of the residents owed him money. At one point Lester allegedly swung a hammer at the man, but missed. The apartment residents were eventually able to disarm Lester who fled the scene.

The robbery charge was pleaded down to Assault Using A Weapon on June 30th, and Lester was given a two-year suspended sentence.
