The Senior Center in Iowa City will reopen to the public today after 16 months of being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public and members will again be able to conduct in-person business and utilize fitness rooms and social spaces.
In a release from the city, the Center closed to the public on March 18, 2020, after the Governor declared a State of Public Health Disaster Emergency. At that time, Senior Center staff pivoted to maintain quality programming virtually via Zoom.
The Center will now be open its regular hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
The 2nd and 3rd levels of the Tower Place Parking Ramp are currently closed for repairs. Access to the Senior Center skywalk on the third level is temporarily unavailable, so patrons can use the entrance on Linn Street, the pedestrian ramp entrance in the Linn Street alley, or the Washington Street entrance.
Masks are highly recommended but not required. Free face masks will be available at the front desk and other locations.
Programming will continue to be offered virtually, at outdoor locations as well as their South Linn Street location.
