An Iowa City woman who had allegedly been drinking at a restaurant for several hours was arrested after allegedly disrupting a trivia contest.

Staff at Mosely’s on South Gilbert Street said that 36-year-old Mikekena Richardson of the Quarters apartment complex on Highway 6 East was interfering with the event, which was underway around 9:40pm Monday when police were called. Richardson was allegedly giving answers to the questions even though she wasn’t participating in the contest. She reportedly was asked by staff to not interfere with the proceedings, which upset her. She’s accused of throwing glasses and condiment bottles, and yelling at employees.

Richardson allegedly said she had been drinking Old Fashions at Mosely’s since 3 pm, and was present during Happy Hour, which served 2-for-1 drinks. Staff wanted her trespassed because of her behavior.

Upon contact, Richardson was reportedly observed with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. She told police she wasn’t going to identify herself and attempted to leave the scene in a Lyft.

Richardson allegedly continued to try to pull away from officers and kicked at them as they escorted her to a squad car. She refused a post-arrest PBT.

Richardson has been charged with Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts. She could be sentenced to a maximum of 60 days in jail if convicted on both counts.
