A Davenport woman has been arrested on warrants stemming from a September 2020 incident when she was allegedly found with a stolen vehicle and reportedly tried to harm an officer who had stopped her after a pursuit.

The incident happened on the 26th just before 10:30 pm. 24-year-old Adriana Pietro was identified as the driver of a stolen vehicle, and she had already provided her driver’s license to Coralville Police when she took off unexpectedly. Iowa City Police found Pietro when a passenger in her vehicle contacted a citizen and directed officers to the 500 block of Huntington Drive. When authorities arrived, Pietro allegedly got into the stolen vehicle and came head on with officers. She then stopped directly in front of police then drove through a city park, then on to Court Street, where officers clocked her at an estimated 60 miles per hour. Pietro also reportedly shut her lights off to evade police.

She then returned to Coralville, and was observed speeding southbound on 1st Avenue before making an abrupt turn that found her at a dead-end on Pipeline Road. Pietro then was told why she was stopped and allegedly said that the plates on the vehicle were stolen but she could provide paperwork. Police confirmed that the vehicle was stolen, and records showed Pietro with an outstanding warrant. When officers asked her to exit the vehicle, she allegedly put the vehicle in drive while an officer was holding onto the driver’s door handle. She then reportedly steered towards the officer, nearly pushing him off the roadway.

Pietro then drove around the squad cars, and allegedly committed several more traffic violations before officers flooded the area in an attempt to stop her.

A warrant was issued for her arrest, and she was located and booked into the Johnson County Jail at 12:45 am Tuesday. Pietro’s been charged with Eluding, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon towards Police Officers, 2nd degree Theft, and Interference with Official Acts while using a Dangerous Weapon, She also faces charges of speeding, reckless driving, failure to provide financial responsibility, and failure to activate headlights when required. If convicted on all counts, Pietro faces a maximum prison sentence of up to 20 years.
