An Iowa City woman had a unique excuse for hitting a parked car when she was arrested on OWI charges earlier this week.
According to arrest reports, 31-year-old Ananya Pramanik of East Washington Street was in the 900 block of Sandusky Drive at around 10:50pm Wednesday when she struck a parked car.
Pramanik allegedly told officers on scene that the car came into her lane and she was unable to avoid it.
Pramanik reportedly had slow confused speech, impaired balance, and admitted to taking Xanax while knowing the label stated “do not operate heavy machinery.” A PBT and Datamaster showed no alcohol in her blood stream, and a DRE evaluation determined that she was under the influence and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Pramanik was charged with her first OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
