An Iowa City man is facing a possible decades-long prison sentence after a search warrant on his vehicle turned up large quantities of drugs.

According to police, the search warrant was executed on Feburary 7th of this year. 39-year-old Scott Albaugh’s Cadillac XT5 was impounded pending a search warrant. Once the warrant was secured, officers went over the vehicle.

A black scale was allegedly located in the driver’s side door. In the rear of the Cadillac, officers reportedly discovered a black bag with three zip-lock bags containing a green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana. Another metal container containing the substance was also reportedly located, as well as two plastic containers. One had the green leafy substance, while the other contained a crystalline substance.

The evidence was photographed, weighed, sealed, and sent for testing. Police say they confiscated nearly 50 grams of marijuana and 9.4 grams of methamphetamine.

A warrant for Albaugh’s arrest was issued on June 8th, and police arrested him Sunday. He’s been charged with two counts of Failure to Affix a Drug Stamp, a Class D Controlled Substance violation for the marijuana, and a Class B Controlled Substance violation for the meth. If convicted on all charges, Albaugh, of Scott Court, could be sentenced to up to forty years in prison.
