Man faces robbery charge after report of armed subject at IC convenience store

Iowa City Police have made an arrest after a report of a robbery at an Iowa City convenience store.

Few details about the case have been made available.  But online records show officers were called to Kum & Go on East Burlington Street just after 11:30 Saturday night for a man armed with a knife. The caller said the man had asked his friend to go inside to the ATM.

42-year-old Kenneth Hawkins Jr. was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 12:15 Sunday morning and charged with 1st Degree Robbery. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
