A North Liberty man has been charged with OWI for the third time in the last three months.
Police say that Courtney Kendrick of North Jones Boulevard, who turned 32 Wednesday, was contacted on the 3300 block of the Coralville Strip just before 11:30pm that night after his Acura had driven off the roadway into a ditch. Kendrick allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and had impaired speech and balance.
Kendrick reportedly admitted to drinking and performed poorly on field testing. He refused chemical tests. A check of his driving record showed OWI convictions in Linn County for a March 17th incident, and another in Johnson County from May 23rd. His driving status was also found to be barred as an habitual offender.
Kendrick was charged with OWI 3rd offense and Driving while Barred. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
