A North Liberty man who has 11 prior felony convictions was arrested Monday night after being found with firearms.
Police say that 59-year-old Ronald Robi of Timber Wolf Drive purchased two Staccato handguns at Sheel’s Sporting Goods on May 20th. However, he did not take possession of them because he did not have the proper documents to complete the paperwork. He allegedly returned on June 1st and took possession of the firearms without completing the proper paperwork.
A check of Robi’s records showed multiple felony convictions for theft and forgery going back to 1973 and as recently as 2003.
Authorities got a search warrant and executed it just before 10:30pm Monday. Officers located a Savage Arms brand rifle in his truck.
Robi was charged with three counts of Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon, and could be sentenced to up to fifteen years in prison if convicted.
