Coralville FD tackles two weekend fires

The Coralville Fire Department had a busy weekend, tackling two fires.

In a press release from the Department, the first one was in a residential building at 1512 First Avenue

that was contained to a closet and extinguished within 15 minutes of fire department arrival.

The second incident was in a commercial building, at 2000 James St, and contained by the building’s

sprinkler system until the fire department arrived and extinguished the fire.

Both fires caused under $20,000 worth of damage each. No firefighter or citizens were injured.

Both of the fires were considered accidental but are being investigated further to determine the cause.
