A North Liberty man was arrested Thursday night after being accused of smashing items and fighting with officers.

Police were dispatched to the area of the Fareway parking lot on Highway 965 just before 11pm on reports of three men smashing things with a pipe. They arrived to find the three had moved to outside of  Smokin’ Joe’s nearby. 19-year-old David Allen of Prairie Ridge Road was reportedly one of the three, and was armed with a pipe. Police say that Allen was screaming, yelling and visibly agitated. He reportedly continued to walk away from officers despite multiple commands to stop.

Allen allegedly resisted commands to place his hands behind his back, and resisted as they were placed into handcuffs. He reportedly had to be taken to the ground, where he continued to fight with officers. One reported an injury to his right knee.

Allen allegedly continued to resist officers as they placed him into a squad car. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury, and could be sentenced to a maximum 13 months in jail if convicted.
