Cedar Rapids Police have made an arrest regarding an attempted murder case from November.
According to a release from the Department, the incident occurred on the 28th of that months just before 10:30pm in the 1000 block of 9th Street Southwest.
Upon arrival, they found 34-year-old Tyler Koob near the street, wounded by gunfire. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
During their subsequent investigation, it was determined that Koob himself should be charged. Police say Koob knocked on the door of the property. A 49-year old male and a 37-year old male stepped outside with Koob. Neither of the two men knew Koob and saw that Koob had a gun in his hand. Koob was allegedly yelling at the men and an altercation occurred.
Koob pointed and fired a handgun at the 49-year old male right outside of the property. The bullet struck the building behind the victim where several people were gathered. The 49-year old male was armed with a handgun and fired at Koob when Koob was allegedly preparing to point his handgun at the 49-year old male once again.
The Linn County Attorney’s Office granted investigators an arrest warrant, and Koob was arrested Wednesday. He faces charges of Attempted Murder, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Going Armed with Intent, and Carrying Weapons.
If convicted on all counts, Koob could be sentenced to up to 42 years in prison.
