The state Board of Regents are meeting this week in person for the first time in over a year, and will be meeting with the state-run universities’ presidents to set goals evaluate sitting executives.

The meeting will include a sit-down with Barbara Wilson, University of Iowa president-elect. Regent spokesman Josh Lehman says that the meeting will focus on performance goals.

On Tuesday, the board was to discuss compensation with UNI president Mark Nook, ISU president Wendy Wintersteen, and board Executive Director Mark Braun. The last time the board took action on their compensation was 2019. Nook’s contract was extended to 2025, while Wintersteen saw a contract extension to 2023. Neither was given a pay raise in 2019. Both presidents took pay cuts last year to deal with reduced revenues due to the coronavirus pandemic.
