North Liberty residents, child from Amana killed in northern Iowa accident

Two North Liberty residents and a child from Amana were all killed in a two-vehicle accident in Fayette County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened around 2:30 Friday afternoon on Highway 150 north of West Union.

The accident report indicates a 2010 Chevy Impala was driving northbound when it crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a southbound semi. The driver of the Impala, a 65-year-old North Liberty resident, was killed. Also killed were an 18-year-old North Liberty resident and a nine-year-old Amana resident. A 15-year-old Amana resident was injured and taken to Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union. The driver of the semi, a 37-year-old from Orlando, Florida, was not injured.

The identities of the victims have not been released. The State Patrol says all four were wearing their seat belts.

The accident remains under investigation.
