An Iowa City woman was taken into custody this week after allegedly using a knife on her domestic partner.

The incident occurred Monday at approximately 8:45pm at the Moss Wood Lane residence the two have been living together in. According to arrest reports, 20 year-old Yasmine Martin and the victim were in a verbal altercation that occurred throughout the day. Martin then allegedly displayed a knife at the victim.

Martin’s partner attempted to disengage from the altercation, but Martin scratched the victim with the knife just above the left knee, drawing blood.

Afterwards, Martin reportedly slashed two tires, destroyed a TV, and scratched into the side of the victim’s vehicle.

A warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest, and she was booked into the Johnson County Jail Tuesday afternoon. She’s charged with 3rd degree Criminal Mischief and Domestic Abuse Assault with the use of a weapon. If convicted, Martin faces up to four years in prison.
