An Iowa City man who was accused of trying to throw a man out of a second-story window in March has been arrested again for allegedly assaulting a man in his driveway.

37-year-old Warren McDuffie of Amhurst Street and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation in McDuffie’s driveway Saturday afternoon. It turned physical when McDuffie allegedly approached the man with a knife in his hand, but he reportedly made no threats towards the man with the weapon.

McDuffie threw the knife down, and the victim told McDuffie to leave and tried to walk away from the altercation. When the man turned around, McDuffie allegedly punched him in the back of the head. The victim then reportedly turned around and began fighting McDuffie.

Although McDuffie sustained facial injuries, numerous witnesses reported that he was the initial aggressor. The other man sustained further injuries to his hands and knees.

On March 22nd, McDuffie was accused of attacking a man at his home without provocation, carriying him a distance, and attempting to throw him out of a second-story window. He then reportedly threw him outside into the front yard, where police found the man. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

When questioned, McDuffie reportedly admitted to being “a little too rough” with the victim.

In both incidents, McDuffie was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year each.
