North Liberty man barred from driving charged with OWI with three children passengers

A North Liberty man faces charges after allegedly driving while intoxicated with three children in tow.

Police say the incident involved 31-year-old Courtney Hendrick of North Jones Boulevard was stopped at 11:15 Saturday night in the 100 block of North Park Road in Tiffin for a reported lane violation.  Upon contact, he had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and showed measurable impairment on field testing.

A Datamaster reading of .153 percent was recorded, and Hendrick had three children under 16 years of age in the vehicle at the time. A check of his driving records showed his status as barred.

Hendrick is charged with 1st offense OWI, Driving While Barred and Child Endangerment, and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted on all counts.
