An Iowa City man is accused of going on a tirade after being placed under arrest for OWI.

According to police, 29-year-old Jamaal Green of South Gilbert Street was called in as a reckless driver, and an officer observed him operating an Acura without plates at 2:50am Monday going over the speed limit on South Riverside Drive.

Officers contacted Green after he pulled into the Kum & Go on South Riverside. He allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. The arrest report described Green as rude, belligerent, argumentative, emotional, and profane. Over the course of his alleged tirades, Green admitted to drinking prior to driving. As he was placed under arrest, he refused at least a dozen commands to place his hands behind his back to be cuffed.

Green has been charged with his first OWI, Interference with Official Acts, and Driving While Revoked. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over two years in jail.
