A Cedar Rapids man accused of abusing his puppy has been sentenced to two years in prison.

KCRG TV reports that the puppy was taken to the Critter Crusaders rescue organization on April 1st with two fractured legs among other injuries.

Authorities found that 22-year-old Jayden Cliff, the dog’s owner, grabbed the pet and threw him to the ground after he defecated on the man’s bed. He then allegedly kicked the pup repeatedly. He dropped the animal off with an acquaintance, who contacted Critter Crusaders.

Cliff entered a written plea of guilty, and was sentenced Thursday.

The dog, named Kimble, is reportedly recovering well. Critter Crusaders said they’re happy with Cliff’s sentence.
