Coralville’s new ECHL team will be named the Heartlanders.

At an unveiling ceremony at Xtream Arena Thursday night, fans were shown the new logo, pictured above, and learned that ticket packages, seat selection and other announcements will be forthcoming ahead of the October 22nd home opener. The team will play a 72-game season, with 36 home contests mostly on Friday and Saturday nights.

Mayor John Lundell was pleased with the enthusiasm the crowd showed during the unveiling. “I think that the turnout today is really an indication of what we realized early on, that there’s a pent-up demand for professional hockey in this community.”

Team President Brian McKenna said now that the team has a name and logo, they can get down to the nuts and bolts of the operation.  He told KCJJ, “Now we can start to focus on the hockey side of the business; players, coaches, all those sort of things that will be important from here on out as we approach the season.”
