A fire at a Coralville store caused approximately $50,000 in damages, mostly due to the building’s sprinkler system.
According to a release from the Coralville Fire Department, crews responded to Theisen’s on Westcor Drive at approximately 3:40 am Wednesday. By the time crews arrived, the sprinkler system had extinguished the blaze.
Light smoke and some water damage was contained to a small area of the stock room. Firefighters assisted the manager with water removal so that the store could open on time without loss of business.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not believed to be suspicious.
